Mission to Seafarers is a British Charity which offers help and support to merchant seamen around the world. Pandiman has worked together with the organisation on many occasions, as we have with the Sailors' Society, to do whatever we can to assist seafarers and their families.
On Saturday, the 4th of July, amid the COVID pandemic, Mission to Seafarers requested our help to provide a driver for Filipino crew waiting to board for the start of their contracts.
They would also be needed to offload crew from the same vessel and drop them at their government approved quarantine hotel.
At dawn, Pandiman driver Alan Duhaylungsod arrived at the designated pick up area. He was provided with full Personal Protective Equipment and was given a highly sanitised and protected vehicle to drive the crew. After transporting the waiting crew safely to the pier, Alan waited until the offloading crew had been processed and then drove them safely to their quarantine hotel in Manila.
Mission to Seafarers Country Manager, Ms Lala Tolentino, notified us that evening
"The off-signers were dropped at the hotel around half past 7pm safe and sound.
Again our biggest thanks for your support to the Mission and crew!"
